Amanda Hildebrand, owner of In Perfect Balance Bookkeeping in Utah

Self described paperwork nerd and lover of all things organized decides to start her own company helping business owners realize they don’t have to do it alone.

Whew! That was a mouthful, but truly my story in a nutshell.

I spent 13 years in the HOA Management industry before making the leap into working for myself. It was 2021 and I was wearing multiple hats within a company, working full-time plus some, barely making time for myself, always thinking about work, and riding a wave of stress disguised as productivity. I was on the Hustle Train headed straight toward Burnout - and not for the first time.

I started to think about what success meant to me, what my personal values were, and what I loved about my career. It took me nearly a year to figure out what path I could take that would check all those boxes and in January of 2022 I created In Perfect Balance Bookkeeping, LLC. One of my first clients was a recommendation from my previous employer.

It is possible to walk that tightrope and juggle the responsibilities of work and life, but I don’t think the scales are always balanced - sometimes work needs a lot of attention and so does family. We’re all juggling life (the responsibilities, the wants, the needs) and nobody is a master juggler for long. At some point, something has to give, right? There was a quote I read once about work/life balance - that the way to make it work is being able to know which balls you’re juggling are ok to drop. Some balls break and we don’t want to drop those; some bounce back and those we can drop, catch again, and throw them back into the mix.

My goals as a business owner are to be able to make space for myself and the things that bring me joy. I want to be able to bring my whole authentic self to work, do what I am great at, and help people along the way. So, here I am, doing just that and hopefully inspiring other business owners to do the same thing by realizing the value of help. You don’t have to do it all.

I love sharing information that I learn, helping create profitable businesses, and seeing people reach their goals. I have a passion for supporting local businesses. I love reading books of all kinds, being in nature, hiking, camping, sitting by bodies of water, photography, travel, giving and receiving really good hugs, trying new foods, and collecting mass amounts of plants. I’m smart, intuitive, and I look after others.

My husband, Mike, and I have been married for 11 years - we have a his, mine, and ours set of 5 children ranging in ages from 30 to 11. We live with our youngest, in Syracuse, UT, along with Wallace the cat and Bob the leopard gecko. We laugh daily.

“Balance is often equated with stillness and yet when I stand on one leg, I am aware that in order to stay still and not topple, my body is going through a series of subtle muscles adjustments. This suggests to me that balance is actually quite active – we put effort in to achieving that centred, rooted place. I think this is true for all areas where we seek equilibrium, right from our emotional selves to our health and working lives, we constantly have to adjust our balance to settle, and it’s not hard to realise when we are off kilter – we feel it in the symptoms of unease, worry, illness and discord. But even these are not a problem because such emotions and conditions communicate that it is time to adjust our footing and regain balance. The trick is to stay aware and keep actively engaged with the process.”
